Eardisley Park, Herefordshire
Client: Mr & Mrs Nigel Morris-Jones
A new five acre garden in West Herefordshire. Water, simple planting and changes of level are used to bold effect, creating a variety of spaces and drawing the eye towards dramatic views of the Black Mountains.
From a long, reflecting pool on axis with the house, water cascades over a wall, along a narrow rill and into a large pool with a single jet; it then flows into a new stream over a ha-ha and into a pool below. To the east of the house, a formal garden has been laid out in quadrants as a ‘wildflower parterre’ with the addition of spring and summer bulbs. To the south of the gardens a carefully shaped lake gives the impression of the nearby River Wye meandering through the grounds of the house.
