Housebuilding company Hill has won Best Development award for Ninewells in Cambridge at this year’s WhatHouse? Awards. RMA designed the landscape for the scheme up to the planning stage.

Ninewells was commended for its energy efficiency, refreshing appearance, generous spacing and inspirational landscape design. The Longstowe house on the site won House of the Year, and was singled out for its terraces, balconies and outdoor space which all provide views to the Gog Magog Downs.

Our landscape design strategy responded to the site context and the built form of the masterplan, which created a number of open spaces and significant routes around the site, ranging from private courtyards and terraces to squares and public areas, including allotments and wildlife corridors. Together these have given residents a choice and variety of outdoor experiences, and enhanced biodiversity. We also put our expertise on sustainable urban drainage systems (SUDS) to good use across the site.

RMA is currently working with Hill on parts of the North West Cambridge development.
